Thanks to the wise policies of the Government of the Arab Emirates to improve the national economy, the golden visa system was launched for the first time in 2019 to attract investors, entrepreneurs, and outstanding specialized talents to be permanent partners in the country’s development process. Then In April 2022, the UAE Government made some updates to include new categories.

Golden visa

Golden residency is one of the services that was recently launched by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security. Under this service, people who meet the conditions can apply for a long-term residency for a period of five to ten years. Also allows to residents and foreign expatriates issue residence permits for their families, including the wife and children, as well as living, working, investing, and studying in the United Arab Emirates.

Categories that can obtain golden residency in the UAE:

Investors

There are some conditions for investors in public investments to obtain a golden visa in Dubai and the UAE

  • A deposit of at least AED 2,000,000 (two million dirhams) in an investment fund inside the UAE.
  • Establishing a company or to be a partner in an existing company in the UAE with a capital of not less than AED 2,000,000 (two million dirhams)
  • To be the owner or partner of a company that pays the taxes imposed upon it by the government, at a value of not less than AED 250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand dirhams) annually.
  • Retaining the investment for at least two years from the date of visa issuance.
 

Required documents for submitting the golden visa residency application for investors

Investors holding a license from the Department of Economy & Tourism (commercial license – industrial license)

  • Financial report audited by a licensed auditing company for 2021 – 2022.
  • Account statement for the last 3 months from the bank with a value of (500.000)AED
  • VAT amount of (250.000) per year
  • Company capital amount of (2,000,000 per partner)
  • Passport copy (valid for more than 3 months)
  • Residency visa copy.
  • Personal photo with White background.
  • The applicant must be inside the UAE.

Investors holding a license from the free zones authorities (commercial license – industrial license)

  • No objection certificate from the free zone authority to apply for the golden visa.
  • Share certificate.
  • Financial report audited by licensed auditing company for 2021 – 2022
  • Account statement for the last 3 months from the bank with a value of (500.000)AED
  • VAT amount of (250.000) per year.
  • Company capital amount of (2,000,000 per partner)
  • Passport copy (valid for more than 3 months)
  • Residency visa copy.

  • The applicant must be inside the UAE.

Real estate investors

Real estate investors can obtain the golden visa in Dubai and the UAE for themselves and their family members for 5 years, renewable on the same conditions If you own a property or a group of properties, and some conditions must be met as follows:

  • Owns one or more properties whose value is not less than 2 million dirhams.
  • In case the property is mortgaged, an NOC letter from the bank to issue a visa on the property showing the paid and remaining amounts.
  • Availability of an electronic copy of the title deed certificate.

Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs can obtain the golden visa in Dubai and the UAE, if you own an economic project of a technical or future nature based on risk & innovation. In addition, you must have the following:

  • Owning a successful company/project and a letter from an auditor in the UAE stating that the project value is not less than 500,000 dirhams.
  • A letter / Approval from the authorities in the emirate stating that the project is of a technical or future nature.

Outstanding specialized talents include:

Doctors and scientists:

It requires the following conditions:

  • An approval Letter from the Ministry of Health in the UAE to practice the profession of medicine (for doctors)
  • A copy of the employment contract and labor card is required.
  • A letter of recommendation from the Emirates Council of Scientists or a letter from the Secretariat of the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence stating that the applicant has been awarded the Medal of Scientific Excellence (for scientists).

Creative people in the fields of culture and art:

  • An approval letter from the Department of Culture and Arts in the respective emirate.

Inventors:

  • A recommendation letter from the Ministry of Economy stating that your patent has an added value to the country’s economy.

Executive Directors:

  • The last 5 years of residency must hold a manager profession.
  • No objection letter from the company to apply for the golden visa residency.
  • A salary certificate with a salary of AED 50,000 at least along with the last 6 month’s bank statement.
  • A valid labor contract copy.
  • A copy of the university certificate attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with educational attainment not less than a bachelor’s degree.

Specialists in priority scientific fields

Athletes:

  •  Required a recommendation letter from the General Sports Authority or one of the sports councils.

Ph.D. holders

Specialists in engineering and science:

  • Required a copy of a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree certified by the Ministry of Education.
  • Copy of labor contract.

Subjects relating to engineering and science include:

  • Epidemiology and Viruses.
  • Artificial Intelligence.
  • Big Data.
  • Computer Engineering.
  • Electronic Engineering.
  • Software Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering.
  • Genetics and Biotechnology Engineering.

Outstanding Students

High school students and university students:

  • High school students obtaining an excellent grade of 95% in public or private secondary school, provided a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education (Emirates Schools Establishment).
  • The golden visa may be extended if he/she is enrolled in one of the majors/colleges in the country that requires a study period of more than five years.
  • Outstanding university student, you may obtain a Golden visa for 10 years without a sponsor, provided that.
  • The university must be rated either A or B class by the Ministry of Education.
  • A recommendation letter from the university stating that the student’s cumulative GPA is not less than 3.5 for A-class universities and 3.8 for B-class universities is submitted and it has not been more than 2 years since you graduated.

Outstanding students of foreign universities:

Outstanding students of foreign universities can obtain a Golden visa for a period of 10 years without a sponsor, the following is required:

  • The university is rated among the best 100 universities globally according to the rating system recognized by the Ministry of Education.
  • The student’s cumulative GPA is not less than 3.5.
  • It has not been more than 2 years since you graduated.
  • Graduation certificate is accredited by the Ministry of Education.

Pioneers of humanitarian work:

A pioneer of humanitarian work can obtain a Golden visa for 10 years. You must be one of the following categories to qualify as a pioneer of humanitarian work:

  • Members and outstanding employees who have worked for international and regional organizations for a minimum of five years.
  • Members and outstanding employees who have worked for civil associations and institutions of public interest for a minimum of five years.
  • Individuals who have received an appreciation award from a local, regional, or international organization that focuses on humanitarian work.
  • Distinguished volunteers in humanitarian work, for a minimum of five years or (500) volunteer hours.
  • Funders of humanitarian work provided that the value of the support does not fall below two million UAE dirhams or its equivalent.

Frontline Heroes:

Frontline heroes who displayed extraordinary effort in crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic also may get the Golden visa with a recommendation from a competent authority. Frontline heroes include nurses, medical assistants, lab technicians, pharmacologists, and other cadres approved by the Frontline Heroes Office.
